Encounters recently took part in the Fresh Eyes Programme

We recently took part in the Fresh Eyes Programme of the Nonfiction Hotlist and are so grateful for such an insightful feedback session for Encounters, our first feature documentary in the works!

Encounters follows a renowned artist on globe-spanning journey, using his elemental practice as a lens to explore the fundamental human need to create. From the quiet ritual of working with raw clay to the clamour of the art world, the film becomes a profound meditation on shaping meaning, beauty, and permanence in a world defined by constant flux.

Inviting us into a space where art, family, and philosophy intertwine, our film will use the artist’s elemental practice and restless questioning as a lens through which to explore something larger: why do we make art, and what does it give us in return?

The Nonfiction Hotlist champions documentary projects that are still in development, helping them gain visibility and find the support they need to reach audiences. Exceptional nonfiction storytelling can change how we see the world, yet many powerful projects never get the chance to be made. Led by a collective of award-winning nonfiction storytellers, the Hotlist curates a small, vetted selection of unproduced films they believe deserve to be championed and brought into the world.
